A wisenheimer named Henry Alford, of New York, New York, writes, "In the entry for Greg Shaw, 'astute Los Angeles scenester (1949-2004),' we learn that Shaw 'still sports the regulation Byrdsian pageboy 'do required of power-popsters.' Seldom are scholarly researchers so thorough as to exhume corpses simply to check on their hairstyle. What can be said of Vidal Sassoon can also be said of the Rock Snobs: they really KNOW hair."

The astute Mr. Shaw sadly passed away as we were going to press. We instructed the folks at Broadway Books to add the "(1949-2004)" part and a phrase on the order of "at the time of his death, he still sported the..." at the end of the entry. Evidently, only the first bit made it in. A copy editor at Broadway is being flogged as we speak. Actually, the best way to rile a copy editor is to write a sentence like this:

Your a disgusting jerk for making a mistake which any fool and it's mother woldn't make.
