A gentleman who identifies himself as Gary Pig Gold of Jersey City, New Jersey, chimes in on the "Who Invented Country Rock?" controversy by arguing, "Did someone/anyone neglect to cite Mike 'Wool Hat' Nesmith (i.e. 'Papa Gene's Blues'), Rick(y) Nelson (too many to mention) and/or the ever-Lovin' Spoonful when tracing that ever-oblique Birth of Country Rock??" Pig, you have neglected our ironclad rule that only persons who have already purchased the book may nitpick, but we'll cut you some slack this one time. When the book comes out on Tuesday and you purchase one for yourself and a dozen more for your piglets, you'll see that Nesmith and his First National Band have their own entry in the book, as does Nelson's Stone Canyon Band. As for the Lovin' Spoonful, are they really country rock, or proto-Americana eclecticists?
